Our SK history
The Schmidt Kranz Group’s unique success story began as early as 1885. That was when the two merchants Schmidt and Kranz founded Schmidt, Kranz & Co. Maschinenfabrik in Nordhausen. The core business at that time consisted of the manufacture of tunnel boring machines. Appropriate shaft equipment for the potash and salt industry was also manufactured.
Change at the top
In 1928 Prof. Karl Glinz took over the company. He kept the established name and expanded the company over the years to other business areas, such as the production of tractors and the manufacture of various products for coal mining. After his death, his son, the mining engineer Dr. Hans-Karl Glinz, the company’s fortunes from 1937. He also left his mark on the company and expanded the company’s portfolio to include drilling machines for underground degassing.
Dr. Hans-Caspar Glinz joined the family company in 1981. He integrated products from the field of hydraulics and pneumatics as well as companies such as GHH and Hazemag. In 2002, it was transformed into a holding company. Brands such as Maximator and Perforator became independent subsidiaries as the expansion continued.
The next generation
Around 30 years after Dr. Hans-Caspar Glinz is the fourth generation in the starting blocks. Mortimer Glinz, with the company since 2010, today heads the newly formed Schmidt Kranz Group together with his father. Pia-Sophie Yankah is spokeswoman for the advisory board. Together, new markets are explored and technologies developed. In this way, the new generation creates the framework for worldwide and sustainable organic growth.
What does that have to do with ATT?
Advanced Training Technologies (ATT) was founded in the 1980s as fluid training. The company stands for a comprehensive program of seminars for professional development and technical training; especially in the DACH region, but also at locations inside and outside Europe. Fluid Training has been an official product of ATT, a newly founded SK subsidiary, since 2019.
The tasks of ATT
In addition to technical training and seminars, ATT offers professional training at various levels. From e-learning to blended learning to VR learning, everything is represented. The constant exchange with numerous education officers and department heads of companies of the SK Group ensures that ATT is in constant contact with the requirements from practice. Regardless of whether there is a shortage of skilled workers or new requirements for a technical console: The ever-changing challenges of everyday working life mean that ATT develops and offers practical training concepts and goal-oriented problem solutions. This is how ATT counteracts the shortage of skilled workers and qualifies existing employees for higher and more extensive tasks.
A look into the future
In order to position themselves more broadly and to grow just as organically as the SK Group exemplifies, in the next step training and further education companies, industrial companies and educational institutions will be addressed and sought as partners. With over 30 years of experience, technical know-how and a direct line to the top representatives of German industry, ATT has the right arguments to revolutionize the market for further vocational training and raise it to a new level.
